How to get to the Blue Cave

Tours and boats from Split, Hvar, Trogir, Vis and Komiža — travel times and the pros and cons of each.

Biševo has no regular car ferry, so almost everyone arrives on a boat tour. Where you start shapes your day.

Starting pointTypical optionApprox. time at sea

Hvar townSpeedboat tourShorter than from Split
Vis / KomižaLocal boat or private charter≈ 20–40 min

Speedboat days from the mainland

The classic "Blue Cave and 5 islands" tour leaves Split or Trogir early in the morning and visits the cave, then stops at places like Stiniva, Budikovac, Vis and Hvar. It's a long day, but you see a lot of the Adriatic.

Staying on Vis

Vis is reached by ferry or catamaran from Split. From Komiža, the closest town to Biševo, local boats and private skippers can get you to the cave at the best moment of the day — and you'll avoid the longest crossings.

Tips

  • Bring a light jacket for the early speedboat ride and sun protection for later.
  • Seasickness tablets help on windy days.
  • Carry cash or card for the cave ticket if it isn't included.
